Blogger Video Question

In an effort to better understand what people are looking for in a blog (other than the great deals on Whiteside Router Bits, Saw Sharpening, and Bicycle Tours of Italy that are being thrown in your face via the Google Ads on this page...) I am seeking some feedback. I am wondering if the video of my nephews from yesterday's blog entry came through ok. I ask because I clicked on it once, and it buffered and started playing within 3 seconds, another time 12 seconds. However, another time I clicked on it and it appeared to fully buffer, but it never started playing.

So if you are a natural born feedback provider...feel free to categorize your experience with yesterday's video of the twins by clicking on one of the four choices in the poll below. (Why do I get the feeling the phrase "video of the twins" is going to attract a whole new group of readers from the search engines???)

I watched the video just fine and was edified. Taking your survey, though, I got complaints about enabling cookies and crud. I've got cookies enabled ("Until they expire") but for some reason the survey wouldn't let me vote anyway.

Doesn't let me vote, so please register a "no problem"

Making your Own Router Table with Jeff Skiver. "THE VIDEO" when is it coming out?

I see this as an opportunity for us loyal blog groupies to get in on DVD's at discount price (introductory). PayPal and T-shirts. The Skiver hats with earflaps the woodworker’s latex gloves, endless possibilities, $,$$$,$$$.$$ Think abooout it.

Could you imagine, going over to Woodcraft.com filling your shopping cart with latex gloves and a video link appears with Jeff Skiver sitting in his workshop talking frankly about latex. Hell, it’s a start.

The video worked perfectly unfortunately the same can't be said for the survey. I got the cams crud about enabling cookies that Jeffrey has. Latex and videos of twins... where is the world heading?

Thanks for the feedback. I got enough to let me know the video worked. I also realize the poll I put in really sucks. The weird thing is I first looked to see if Blogger (the site/software) I use had a built in Poll application. I didn't see one so I went searching on the internet...apparently the one I chose wants enough information from each potential user to either steal their life's savings or at the very least drive them to a MAC for their next computer purchase.

The weird thing is that as soon as I put in this poll, I found that Blogger does have a poll option that would seamlessly integrate.

A hypothetical woodworking analogy is: I needed to hit a rough spot on top of a finished table. So, I go to my tool cabinet to grab my 4 1/2 smoothing plane. Well, I guess I don't have a 4 1/2 in my cabinet. I suppose this scrub plane will work just as well...

Thanks again for the help. I got the info I desired and killed the poll.

Jeff, still can't see the video in Firefox even after disabling Adblock and Customize Google extensions, thinking they might be blocking it, but video shows fine in Internet Explorer. Guess to see video clips on your blog will have to view it in IE, which is no big deal. Wonder if any other Firefox browser users are encountering same thing? Enjoy your blog -- best wishes from the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico, USA)!

Adam,

Thanks for your comments and feedback. It is weird because I use Firefox, and it has been almost flawless. However, that one time it acted up was what caused me to even ask the question.

It is so weird...the whole reason I finally switched over to Firefox last year was because there was some kind of update that caused the Foxnews.com videos to stop playing in IE (shucks...now everyone knows my politics...). However, I switched over to Firefox and the Foxnews videos played fine. So I have been using Firefox ever since.

Except when I log into my work site from my laptop. It seems to require IE.

Anyway, I did find that the one time it just wouldn't play in Firefox, the little line indicated it had buffered/loaded but it wouldn't play. Eventually, from that very webpage (with the frozen video of my nephews), I went to a different website (Foxnews.com, webkinz.com, etc) then immediately hit the BACK button. Suddenly the video was perfect.

I have said before that Blogger does some quirky stuff, but this time I don't know if it is Blogger, Firefox, Vista, or just bad Karma.

I suppose the important thing is you found a work around. Now is there any chance you are a Hollywood Casting Agent? I would love to be a screen uncle and eventually help the twins manage a fortune similar to the one possessed by Mary Kate and Ashley.

To say I'm dissapointed would be a gross understatement. I googled twins, and get your video. Cute.

Hugh, just before Christmas I performed at a friend's bachelorette party under the stage name Randy Harden. I can't help but think our alter egos are somehow related and they just messed up the spelling of one of them back at Ellis Island. The Jardons and Hardens had to come from the same clan up in the highlands of the old country. Is there any chance you were named for your father's best friend? Many of the Jardons I know would always buddy up to the Jorgens. Then again, your parents may have named you after Mr. Jerriktion, too. Perhaps your parents were fond of Mr. Jassil and named you Hugh after him. I have a cousin named Hugh, and it is a well known fact that my aunt and uncle named him after Hugh Janusack the guy who would always go around with a cup of Earl Gray. Man, did that guy ever go through a lot of Tea Bags...
